Capital Area Promise Scholarship

The Sacramento Region Community Foundation (Foundation) is awarding need-based scholarships through the Capital Area Promise (CAP) Scholars program, which aims to increase college completion rates among local students who are traditionally underrepresented in higher education. This opportunity is available to graduating high school seniors planning to pursue a bachelor’s degree who have participated in the CAP Scholars program. Scholarship award may be used for cost of attendance.

  • Be a graduating senior from an eligible high school in Sacramento County who received individual college advising from Cal-SOAP, Improve Your Tommorrow or AVID through the CAP Scholars program
  • Planning to pursue a bachelor’s degree
  • Demonstrate financial need (preference will go to students whose expected family contribution EFC is less than $10,000)
  • Be enrolled full time in at least 12 academic units or equivalent per quarter/semester in the fall

Renewal Award available up to one (1) year based on meeting conditions of scholarship.

In 2016, the Foundation was awarded a substantial grant to support this work from College Futures Foundation (CFF), a statewide philanthropic organization that has studied the experiences and achievements of low-income scholarship recipients in California. Through the support of CFF and the Foundation’s donors, the Foundation is taking a thoughtful and intentional approach to improve educational outcomes for underserved students.
