Max & Nadine Dimick

Max & Nadine Dimick

When Max Dimick was born in a drafty log cabin in 1917, his parents wondered if they could afford clothes for the family addition. So it was remarkable that the infant would grow up to become a physician and philanthropist.

But he did. The sharecropper’s son who went to school ashamed of manure on his hands became a brilliant obstetrician, delivered 5,000 babies, settled among Sacramento’s elite with his wife Nadine and their children, and rode a booming stock market to a health fortune.

In one of the crowing achievements of their lives, Dr. Max Dimick and his wife Nadine structured their will leaving much of their fortune to the Sacramento Region Community Foundation. Their gift created a permanent charitable endowment for the people of the Sacramento community that helps support the Arden-Dimick Library; benefit hospice, domestic violence, and animal welfare programs; fund medical school programs; and increase the Community’s Greatest Need Fund.
