Sacramento Region REACH (Rincon Environment and Climate Heroes) Scholarship
The scholarship was established to promote and encourage racial diversity in the environmental industry. Rincon Consultants, Inc. believes that fostering a workplace where diversity of perspectives and opinions are encouraged and will lead to a more informed, creatively aligned, and socially aware team. Promoting diversity in the environmental industry will encourage and expand overall awareness and creatively in addressing environmental concerns.
Eligibility Requirements
- Area of Study/Interest: Environment
- Graduating high school student or undergraduate college student (college freshman, sophomores, or junior) planning to attend a 2-year or 4-year accredited college/university in California.
- Must be currently attending or have attended a high school or college in El Dorado, Placer, Sacramento & Yolo Counties.
- Applicants must be a person of color (African American or Black, Asian, Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander, Hispanic/Latino, or American Indian/Alaskan Native). Preference will be given to Hispanic/Latino applicants.
- Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 unweighted GPA.
- Demonstrate financial need through the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or California Dream Act Application
- Preference will be given to applicants who are first generation college students.
- Applicant must intend to enroll full time at an accredited California college in the upcoming academic year.
Application Requirements
- Submit the General Application before applying to the Sacramento Region REACH Scholarship opportunity.
- Essay: In 100 – 250 words, please describe why you are interested in environmentalism, and what you have done or plan to do to preserve and protect the environment.
- Reference letter: provide a letter of reference from an individual who you are not related to. The reference letter must identify the individuals name, title, and relationship to you.
Scholarship Award
- Award payment is sent to the college/university in one (1) payment and divided evenly between the academic term.
- The scholarship can be used for the cost of attendance (tuition, fees and educational expenses such as books and school supplies and housing).
- Recipients may be considered for an internship during their junior or senior years of college at the nearest Rincon Consultants office.
- The scholarship is renewable up to four (4) years. You must reapply to be considered for a renewal award.

- Letter of Reference: provide a letter of reference from an individual who you are not related to. The reference letter must identify the individuals name, title, and relationship to you. Reference letters on letterhead and signed are preferred.
