The Graydon and Myrth Fox Scholarship

The Graydon and Myrth Fox Scholarship was established to assist Individuals who are seeking to further their job skills or improve their circumstances through education by providing scholarships to wounded Veterans who have served honorably in the United States Armed Forces or is still serving on active duty, or the spouse, child or grandchild of a Veteran who was killed or wounded due to a service-related circumstance.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Be a high school, undergraduate college student or adult re-entry student pursuing a degree at an accredited two-year, four-year college/university, or vocational/trade school
  • Be a wounded Veteran who has served honorably in the United States Armed Forces or is still serving on active duty. You must have been wounded due to a service-related circumstance (DD 214, DD1300 and proof of Purple Heart Award required).
  • Or be the spouse, dependent child or grandchild of a Veteran who was killed or wounded due to a service-related circumstance (DD 214 required and DD1300 required for deceased Veteran and proof of Purple Heart Award required for wounded Veteran).
  • Preference will be given to Veterans wounded or killed while engaged in a combat situation (DD1300 required for deceased veterans and proof of Purple Heart Award required for wounded veteran).
  • Preference may be given to Veterans who are first responders as well as the spouse, child or grandchild of a Veteran who is a first responder. (Same criteria of killed or wounded in the line of duty would apply).
  • Maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
  • Demonstrate financial need – Need is based on the Student Aid Index (SAI) scores from the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) (California Dream Act Applications will not be accepted)

Renewal awards may be received up to four years. Applicants must reapply for a renewal award.

Scholarship award may be used for the cost of attendance at the school you are attending

  1. Are you a Veteran who has served honorably in the United States Armed Forces or is still serving on active duty, or the spouse, dependent child or grandchild of a Veteran who was killed or wounded due to a service-related circumstance?
  2. Was the Veteran wounded or killed while engaged in a combat situation?
  3. Provide a DD 214 to show proof of honorable service in the United States Armed Forces.
  4. Provide a DD 1300 if the Veteran was killed in a service related circumstance or combat situation or provide proof of a Purple Heart Award if the Veteran was wounded.
  5. Is or was the Veterans a first responder?
  6. If the Veterans is or was a first responder please provide proof of verification or certification.
  7. Have you or a family member experienced any family hardship?
  8. If you answered yes to experiencing hardship, please explain the hardship and if their was a disability or chronic illness that may have impacted your financial need. Also, please let us know if you were responsible for the care of a family member because of the hardship and if so, how has that impacted you?
  9. Essay: Please provide a one page personal statement essay describing your academic and professional goals and financial need.
  10. Letter of Recommendation: Please request one letter of recommendation from an individual who is not related to the applicant.
