Richard Wiesner Engineering Scholarship

The Richard Wiesner scholarship was established by Richard Wiesner who is an engineer and project manager who worked in Sacramento for 35 years. He is also an Air Force veteran who continued his education while working and serving in the Reserves. Richard believes in helping others complete their engineering education, especially veterans and those who work during the school year.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Be an undergraduate college student attending California State University Sacramento or University of California Davis in the upcoming academic year.
  • Be pursuing an Engineering degree

Eligibility Preferences

  • Have a minimum 2.5 to 3.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale
  • Demonstrate financial need through the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or California Dream Act Application
  • Full-time attendance of 12 units or more or the equivalent
  • Veteran of the United States Armed Forces (DD214 required)
  • Work part time while attending school

Application Requirements

  • General Application must be submitted before applying to the Richard Wiesner scholarship.
  • Essay: provide a personal statement/self-description essay on your educational and career goals in Engineering.
  • Reference letter:
    First reference letter: request a reference letter from a teacher, employer or community member who you are not related to. The reference letter must identify the individuals name, title, and relationship to you.
    Second reference letter is optional: If you are employed, request a reference letter from your employer for employment verification.

Scholarship Award

  • Award payment is sent to the college/university in one (1) payment and divided evenly between the academic term.
  • The scholarship can be used for the cost of attendance (tuition, fees and educational expenses such as books, school supplies and housing).
  • The scholarship is renewable up to three (3) years. You must reapply to be considered for a renewal award.
