Li Family Charitable Foundation Scholarship
The Li Family Charitable Foundation is an Asian charitable foundation dedicated to empowering the next generation of Asian leaders while addressing critical needs in human health, education, and global child welfare. This scholarship is designed to support students of promise as not all youth have access to resources. All students are eligible to apply, however examples of youth who would make excellent candidates for this scholarship include those living at 185% or below the federal poverty level, foster youth, orphans, teen parents, students who are actively battling or who have navigated a life challenging situation or illness, students with incarcerated parents, immigrants, or students who do not hold permanent US status.
Eligibility Requirements
- Plan to attend a 4-year college or university in the upcoming academic year.
- Have a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
Preferred Eligibility Requirements
- High school senior or undergraduate college student.
- Disadvantaged youth who would make excellent candidates for this scholarship include: those living at 185% or below the federal poverty level, foster youth, orphans, teen parents, students who are actively battling or who have navigated a life challenging situation or illness, students with incarcerated parents, immigrants, or students who do not hold permanent US status.
- First generation college student.
- Students with high financial need and those living at 185% or below the federal poverty level.
- Full-time enrollment/12 units or more or the equivalent.
Application Requirements
- Submit the General Application before applying to the Li Family Charitable Scholarship.
- Essay: write an essay on one hardship that you have encountered in your life and how you overcame it. How would this scholarship help you to achieve your educational dreams and move past the challenging situation you endured. Examples of hardships: Food insecurity, foster youth, orphan, teen parent, actively battled a life changing situation such as cancer, severe injury or illness, a death of a parent, parent who has been incarcerated or be an immigrant or child of an immigrant without legal status.
- Reference letter: provide one reference letter from a teacher, employer, community organization or an individual who you are not related to. The reference letter must identify the individuals name, title, and relationship to you.
- Demonstrate financial need through the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or California Dream Act Application.
Scholarship Award
- Award payment is sent to the college/university in one (1) payment and divided evenly between the academic term.
- The scholarship can be used for cost of attendance (includes tuition, fees, books, educational expenses, supplies, and housing).
- Scholarshiip is renewalbe up to 1 year. Applicants must apply for a renewal award and will be considered in the overall applicant pool.
